Airlines aren't having such a hot time lately. With last summer's spike in crude oil prices, declining air traffic and the avarice filled morons at British Airways and Virgin Atlantic getting caught fixing prices, good news has been scarce. Throw into the mix the genius sitting on a coin operated toilet in a woodshed somehwere in County Dublin (Hey I'm an idiot blogger right? What do I know?) and it seems more and more that leaving on a jet plane is basically like getting on a big bus.
With that as a backdrop, I'd like to wholeheartedly recommend that anyone heading east of the isles this year take a chance with Jet Airways. I flew with them on my recent sojourn to Krung Thep aka The City of Angels and they were in a word, Awesome. And as always in life, it was the little things that made it such a pleasurable experience.
For example, during the flight to Mumbai (Jet are I believe, of Indian origin so stopoffs and plane changes happen in India), I was catching up on some Heroes on my laptop. A member of the cabin crew happened to walk past and asked if I wanted to plug in for some juice so I could catch the rest of the episode.
A couple of points:
1) I hadn't asked for help, it was something that was noticed and a suggestion given.
2) I was then asked if I had my power cord because if I didn't, he'd fish one out for me.
Usually when I fly, and fortunately / unfortunately (depending on how you look at it) I fly I lot - the cabin crew are too busy trying to frisbee meals onto laps to worry about what I'm doing, it was something the gentleman in question didn't have to do, but he did. And it makes a difference baby.
I could of course go on, but I'll just say that every member of Jet's staff carried themselves professionally and personally absolutely impeccably. I'm seriously, seriously impressed with an airline that offers such good value and delivers such a fantastic experience. I was in their care 4 times in 7 days so I'm guessing this type of awesomeness isn't a blip on the radar, more a trend.
And for that I'm gonna say Jet Airways rocks. I love to stick it to a company (hellooooo Vodafone) when they're less than useful, so I had to give Jet a high five for the immense Brand Blowjob I received from them (props to Charlie for getting that term into my lexicon). Fly Jet Airways, cause they rock. Boom.
